What I do at Outpost Bio
Hi, I'm Saif. I run engineering at Outpost, which means the systems that get data from our lab and partners into shape for the science and the models: our sample catalog, our pipelines, and the infrastructure underneath them. I did a PhD in computational biology, worked in bioinformatics at EMBL-EBI and Genomics England, then joined Basecamp Research as its first engineering hire. I like to nail down the what and the why of a piece of work before we start, and I've learned to define what failure looks like up front so a scientific rabbit hole doesn't swallow a month. Outside of work, I play guitar in an experimental rock band, and I once played live on BBC Radio 1 Introducing, which was the most stressful 20 minutes of my life. Looking forward to meeting you!
